Very easy. Except you need a battery conditioner, not a trickle charger. Lots on here use the Ctek. Just clip it on the battery when not in use. Make sure that you order the extension cable if your battery terminals on the car are a long way from the socket.
I don't disconnect the battery when it's attached, just park up and clip on under the bonnet

+1 on the CTEK. The Series 3 has very little parasitic drain so you only need a low amp CTEK (I use the 0.8 amp) to keep the battery in good shape. Rather than using clips on the battery posts which can get knocked off and cause sparks near the battery (never a good idea) I'd strongly recommend running wires from the battery to a plug mounted at the lower corner of the front frame. My plug is located just inside the front of the RF wheel, zip tied to the frame. Not especially easy to get to but safe and out of the way. Also, be sure to put a fuse on the (+) wire to the CTEK, as close to the battery as possible. This arrangement has served me well for over a decade.
