Default Engine removal

I nee to remover the engine from my 1969 ser 2 FHC.
I have watched several Utube videos. None of which show the use of the 2 installed chrome plated hooks on the Cylinder head.
i was wondering why.

Every time I have removed the engine and transmission on my 1966 E type I have used the straps on the cylinder head for the removal.

There are different techniques for removing engines from cars. Some use aftermarket hooks/tabs on the engine heads or straps around the whole unit to lift out. If you have a whole car lift one can place a wheeled dolly under the engine, raise the car and wheel the engine out from underneath. There are many options.

Chrome plated hooks? You should have two aluminum lifting brackets - C23607. They're incredibly light but strong enough to lift the engine and transmission. I'm not a metallurgist, but plating may weaken them. Recommend check what you have, maybe post a photo?

You are correct they are Aluminum, which makes sense. they do look strong enough.
I have never taken a 4.2 engine out before.
Or an engine which requires so much preparation for removal. It is quite an adventure.

Though a tremendous amount of work taking out a engine and transmission the good news is that when you are finished you know every little detail of all the hoses, wires and how everything goes together. Fortunately today we have cell phones to take lots of disassembly pictures. Dozens of zip lock bags and a permanent marker help also keeping parts together.
