Default Flywheel identification

I'm hoping a fellow member may be able to identify a flywheel that I've had in storage for some years. It has 104 teeth and was fitted with a 9.5inch clutch (diaphragm type) and weighs around 28lb. Stamped on the inside is the part number C18517. I've done a quick search and that part number relates to an E Type. However, they had 133 teeth NOT 104 ? Apparently the 3.8 E Type had 104 teeth but not that part number (I suppose they may have used the same centre section and simply fitted a different ring gear ??) Does anyone have any knowledge or thoughts ?

Hi CaptainQ
The 3.8L E-type had 104 teeth on the ring gear. Some of the late 3.8L E-types flywheel were drilled for both the 10" and 9.5" clutch. But 28 lbs sounds heavy for a 3.8L flywheel, If I remember correctly the E-type 3.8L flywheel was about 20 lbs. The pinion gear on the starters were different between the 3.8L and 4.2L engine, one was 9 teeth and the other was 10 teeth, thus requiring 133 and 104 teeth on the ring gear.

Thanks Bob. It's always possible that the 133 tooth ring-gear may have been replaced at some point.
