Hello fellas, in pictures on the web, I see different versions of the S1 shifter. Mine is the leatherette beige one, but I am curious about this rubber one, also from a Series 1.
My XKE is a 1967 OTS. Which one is correct?
According to the JCNA judging guide for S1:
SHIFT BOOT
3.8 - Leather secured with chrome trim and chrome rivets (J30 Pg.189 &240)
4.2 - Leather changed to rubber at: 1E10360 1E30350 1E1061 1E20103
4.2 - Rubber changed to ambla at: 1E13589 1E1686 1E33549 1E21442
My S2 was replaced by real red leather matching the dash top and trim highlights (the passenger grab handle for example) during refresh. I’d suggest that you just do what you like.
