The Horn Push Button is no more than a switch. I've not got a wiring schematic for an S2, but I doubt that it will be much different to an S3, which I'm referring, where the horn is concerned. 12VDC is provided via the ignition switch through a fuse to the Horn Relay. The Horn Switch (push button) provides continence to Earth to switch the relay, that in turn provides power to the Horns.

If the horn goes off with the ignition switch being turned on, you must have a short to Ground either in the relay, or the Horn switch. I would check the Horn switch first, and if no problem there, replace the relay. When relays fail, they tend not to switch from their normal state, which in the case of the Horn Relay is normally open. Accordingly, if the horn is sounding when power is applied to the relay, its more likely to be a short to Ground via the Horn switch.

Regards,

Bill

I have a '70 with a similar issue....(DPO solved it by using a door bell button to sound the horn)...Pulling the turn signal/horn switch out, I show a dead short from inside the case of the horn/signal arm, to the purple/blk wire that comes out the back of it...Hard to visualize how the short is happening inside the arm, but if I'm going to have to spend $223 for a new switch, I am going to try to take the arm apart, first, and see if it is fixable...
I will post if I find a solution.
Edward
