Default IRS installation

I can't seem to find much info about installing the e-type IRS. Does anybody have any tips? I can't seem to get the 2 bushing mount holes to line up with the cage. The center bolt is in. the frame bolts are in, the bracket holes miss by 1/4 inch. I've had it up and down like a yo-yo for the past 2 days and I can't seem to get all the holes to line up properly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't have any hair left to pull out.

by bushing mount hole do you mean the ends of the radius arms where they connect to the "puck"? I did mine a couple of years ago and after connecting the frame bolts, I had to lift the front of the cage with a jack to get the radius arms to connect properly.

I've done this a few times , and there's definitely a knack to it. Is current alignment issue regarding the four IRS metalastik mounts on the cage? Here's how I do it - The front pair bolted to the cage, the rears on the car. Bolts for the rear mounts need to be "head out - nut in" in case you ever want to remove the bolts. I use an ATV jack with a broad platform to lift the IRS. I use a piece of 1" plywood 13" wide x 18" long with the shape of the tie plate and bolt heads routed to make a support that doesn't damage the flanges. I lift the car at the front as well as the rear so the body is approximately horizontal. Its still necessary to use drifts to line up the holes. Be careful with the IRS - its front heavy. Don't forget the shims both sides of the frame. I also find the radius arms are easier to fit when there's weight on the rear wheels to set the rear suspension geometry to a better angle. I thought I had photos, but I can't find them - Hope this helps!

Found the pictures!

Hope it helps!

Ready to lift IRS with ATV jack - Car is raised front and rear and is approximately horizontal. Note front shock not yet installed. Wait until after bleeding brakes.

Lifting with ATV jack. Rags on trailing arms to prevent paint

Almost there

Using floor jack to help line up bolts

More alignment with floor jack

And some more alignment

Aligned

RHS installed

LHS installed

I lifted hubs prior to fitting trailing arms. Tightened radius arm bolt at little bush and ARB bolts when car on floor and suspension at working height

Cheers, Dave
