I finally was able to get an E-type. I took it to the mechanic who did a number of repairs to get it back to a reliable driver. I previously owned a 1967 420 which I dropped the rear end on and changed the brakes. I would like to find manuals so I can contemplate doing some of the suspension on the car myself.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to which manuals are best for a series 1 4.2?
Hi 2000CAXK8,
Congratulations on your new E-Type, and best of luck with it. It is a beautiful car, it looks just like mine. Except mine is mostly disassembled and in the process of being put together again.
Post some more photos.
Good luck with it.
Bill.
Also, some of the parts suppliers have detailed drawings that are helpful in placing the odd part or order of replacement. Every now and then they send a catalogue with diagrams.
Good luck and enjoy!
Hi 2000CAXK8,
Congrats on getting the E-type. It's a very nice looking primrose E-type. I like the looks of the smoked headlight covers.
I would buy the Jaguar parts manual for the 4.2 E-type. It has almost every part of an e-type in it, illustrations and part numbers. It also has screw sizes and that can be helpful. You can buy it through JCNA here is a link https://www.jcna.com/taxonomy/term/56?page=1
JCNA carries both parts and shop manual for a lot of Jaguar vehicles.
