Default Power steering e-Tpe S2

On the power steering system of my E-Type S2 from May 1970, there is a thin plastic hose running from the lower right (as viewed from the front) to the center (toward the front). This hose is leaking slightly, and I would like to replace it.

Since this line is not mentioned or described in any technical documentation, I would like to understand its function. Since the line is simply plugged onto the connection nipples, I suspect that there is no oil pressure.

Can anyone explain the function of this line to me?

The thin plastic is the connection to the other point

Just a guess on my part. Since that appears to be cheap plastic hose from a hardware store with no clamps on the end probably the return hose back to the fluid reservoir. You could probably replace with brake hose and clamps.

Can you follow it and trace it to where it goes?

Dick says if there's fluid in that hose, there's a leak internally

I need to quit helping on areas I do not know. Wrong again. Promise to be quiet from now on. 😊
