Default Price range guide - Etype Series1 1962

Hello, Can someone please give me an honest opinion of the following E Type. To confirm, I am told it is a Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe, Flat Floor, and the reg date is Apr 1962. I'd like to know if the description is indeed correct and any rough value of the vehicle in its current state. Documentation would be available.

Hello InfoSeeker,
I could be wrong, but the photos you posted have been around for a long time. So, first thing: walk away. No; run. Send thing, if you can't run away from this car better make sure this is not a scam. Restoring this jag will take barrels of money. Just my opinion.
Good luck, and let us know what happened.
Bill.

Sorry, one more thing. Value of the car in the photos is not much more than scrap value, so a few thousand. Again, just my opinion.
Bill.

The coil looks salvageable.

Only worth it for the production plate which has body and engine numbers. You'd need to supply a whole new boyshell, engine and gearbox, and loads besides. Better to look elsewhere, I reckon.

My guess is that to restore it properly, it would take North of $250,000
What would it then be worth? Might get your money back if it is a flat floor OBL

This car would not have OBL being a 1962 MY.
I remember seeing these photos before on a site of a restoration shop in the UK. And, if I remember correctly, there was something special about this car (maybe the 1962 London Show car), and the shop was in the process of restoring it. Anyway, restoring this car would be a major undertaking that would require a very big wallet.

Well it is definitely not an outside bonnet lock car. They went out of production in late August or early September of 1961 with car #860004. If it was built in April of 1962 it may not be a flat floor car either.

Hi Infoseeker,
Well without more info and pictures it is very hard to tell. But here is a nice 1962 E-type OTS with a March of 1962 build date (non-flat floor) and the asking price is $115,000 USD. A coupe in the same condition would be somewhere around 1/3 -1/4 less. So the car in the pictures is in very poor condition needing most of the original body panels replaced and maybe a replacement engine. Just the bonnet is around $15K (SNG Barratt) and engine rebuild $10,000. My wild *** guess would be $5,000, maybe less depending on what is salvageable.
