reinstalling v12 heat shields- 71 s3
one of those good/not so good times- i rebuilt the v12 three years ago- redid and refinished absolutely everything in the engine bay- when i re-assembled, i neglected for some inexplicable reason to put heat shields back over the exhaust manifolds
i havent driven the car much since then- on recent outings, car starts and runs beautifully....until it gets warm- and when it is turned off when warm, it is impossible to start- okay, so it took me longer to figure out that i have vapor lock than it should have- and i realize now that the heat shields were put there for a reason and need to go back on
can anybody tell me the best way to get the shields back in at this point?- am thinking that removal of the cooling rail and intake manifold is likely, with carbs staying intact - or is it feasible to squeak em in from underneath?
thanks guys- i appreciate it

It's not that big a deal to just pull the intake manifolds off so why not just do that and save yourself the contortions of trying to get the shields in without removing the carbs. Sometimes trying to save a little work ends up making you do more in the long run. Just my opinion.
