Default Restoring my dad's 1970 Jaguar E-Type

1970 Jaguar E-Type, Dad bought it in 71. Got married to my mom in it and i believe drove me home from the hospital in it. Parked it sometime in the 80s and then we moved to the Bay Area and it sat in our garage for 15 years before we rebuilt the carbs and did the brakes and got it running and driving again and then we moved near Lake Tahoe and its sat in this garage for 13 years now. We're gonna repaint it (same color) and redo all the chrome and go through the motor

Wow.. A real Jag. For me anyway. I was born in 49 so I was in my teens in the 60s. I remember right where I was standing the first time I saw an XKE.

Beautiful, I love the Willow Green. Have you had a paint guy look into a wet sanding before repainting or is the paint cracking? Maybe worth looking into, those guys can do wonders that you never thought was possible.

My dad knows how to paint and I would say I am pretty good at body work but to answer your question we haven't but it is showing rust under the paint in some spots and the driver side lower part of the door is rusted out so our plan is to sand it all down and start over.

Well we weren't planning on it but looks like we'll be tearing the motor pretty far down, taking the intake/coolant thing off and the exhuast manifolds. Was thinking of putting headers on it but i think we're just going to have the manifolds ceramic coated. Here's some pics...

This coolant pipe that goes under the intake is pretty bad, we'll have to make our own cause they don't make replacements

Can't even see thru the coolant pipe

This is why we're pulling the intake, we broke the coolant nipple off trying to replace it, they are so rusted and clogged.
