Hi, I have a 1970 Series II E-type with a 4spd manual gearbox. We have recently removed the engine & gearbox to carry out a full engine rebuild. We have just put everything back into the car to find that the gearbox is stuck in gear! (Possibly two)
Is it possible to fix whilst still in the vehicle and is there anything else we need to look for?

 

Hmmm? You might try gently "rocking" the car forward and backward, while someone is in the cockpit trying to move the shifter. Could try raising the rear and firing the engine to see if gearbox movement "un-jambs" the gearbox.
Was it put in gear after removal by mistake? Was fluid drained after it was removed?
