Smile car finish disaster

I have recently had a minor disaster. When spray painting aircraft parts some white overspray got on the XK8. I thought sure the car was parked well away from the action in order to avoid this. But it did get a very slight very fine dusting. At first I didn't even notice it. I have been able to rub out almost all of it, but the paint has lost some of its great luster. Do any of my friends out there have a recommendation for a great polish that will regain the luster. I have been doing all the rubbing by hand as I am afraid of damaging the paint more than it is already. Besides, this is my wifes' car and I don't want her to know about it.

Have you considered using a clay bar ? If unfamiliar with this, just google it.

A clay bar is an excellent way to start but if that doesn't get it you need to move up to some professional stuff.

Just finished the cut and polish of a repaint of a restoration and used the 3M Perfect-it system for the first time. WOW! Your car will thank you.

I don't think a clay bar will have enough cutting power to get the overspray off. I think you need some 1500-2000-3000 grit wet sanding and then buffer/polish.
