Default Seriesll E-Type Handbrake Cable

Hi,

Anyone able to tell me how to access the Lever end of the handbrake cable on a '71 E-Type?

The cable needs replacing but I can't find any means of even seeing how it's connected to the lever, let alone actually doing it.

Is it necessary to remove the centre console and the tunnel?

Any suggestions, recomendations, or even good guesses would be appreciated.

You really need to treat yourself to a copy of the Workshop Manual (Haynes will do) to help with work on the E-Type. For example:
Amazon.com: Haynes Jaguar E Type 3.8 & 4.2 Owners Workshop Manual No 140: 1961 1972 (Haynes Owners Workshop Manuals) (9780856961403): John Harold Haynes: Books

In Haynes, Chapter 9, Section 31, there is a 19-step procedure on removal and refitting of the handbrake cable. Yes, you need to remove the console, plus a whole pandora's box of other items to access the cable end in the car.

Don't let that put you off. It is all doable by the home enthusiast. It just takes time, some basic tools, and a good manual.
