Curious about changing out the BW12 tranny for a R4 700 Chevy tranny in 72 V12 XKE? Have heard its possible but don't know what all is involved or if any kits out there. Any ideas?

 

How about changing out to a newer model Jaguar tranny?

 

Bingo! . . . and perhaps a 5speed manual to boot? Forget the later ZF 6HP26 . . . beautiful 6speed box that offers sequential manual and auto in the one package, but the electronics are way beyond the E-Type's capability.

I know this is a common swap on the XJS but I do not know if it will fit the E Type. you might contact Jaguar conversions, swaps, parts, service and advice - from John's Cars in Dallas., if it can be done, he probably is the guy who knows.

 

According to John's Cars website, "ETYPE: V12 (XKE) requires sheetmetal tunnel/cover modifications."

 

A GM transmission was factory fitted to Jaguar saloons with the V12, not sure what year though.

 

my v12 has 18-20 bolts in the bellhousing where the tm400 only has 6 same. guts but diff body
