Greetings everyone! I posted on this topic earlier this year and decided to open a new thread because the challenge continues to be challenging, but it might need to be assessed and tackled differently. Quick recap: 1967 S1 OTS, owned it for about 2 years, the red warning light in the speedometer never worked. Bulb is new and tested, all electric components in the car are working properly, the battery charges regularly. On more thorough inspection, I find out that the 3AW module is completely missing from behind the heater box. Only the 3 lose wires (with plastic caps) are there. I ordered a new 3AW (solid state version) from SNG and reconnected it. The warning light works, but stays on also when the engine is running. I return the 3AW and buy the CoolCat device instead. Same identical result. Yesterday I decided to re-run all wiring to the alternator and the warning light externally, just to be sure that the issue is not in the original wiring. Same story. I turn the ignition key, the light turns on, I start the engine and also at high revs, the light stays on all the time. I read somewhere that with newer type of alternators, you don't need the 3AW at all. Perhaps that's why it was missing in my car, while everything else is accurately restored? But if that's the case, why it was not working to begin with? I also contacted the previous owner and he has no info on this particular detail, other than the light did not work for him either, and he owned the car for 22 years. This is a picture of my alternator. If anyone has any idea of what might be broken here I am ready to try other solutions. Than you!
