WOSP performance alternator
Has anyone installed this? Thoughts on it's potential use? Given my voltage meter wonkiness, I'm considering replacing the harness (it's original and has seen better days), generator (I have not replaced it in my 3 years of ownership and am unsure of the history - have to look through the miles of documents I have), voltage regulator & battery (I did not install the current battery and believe it's at least 3 years old) and be done with it. I have no issue with the generator + voltage regulator, but figured I'd see what members think of this concept. Thanks for any input, i.e., pluses / minuses.

I'm sure it works. It should at that price. The alternator itself is "bolt-up", but since it's internally regulated, it will require still electrical changes. And if you have an S2 with a reverse mount alternator, you will need to switch the fan, since the WOSP is a clockwise alternator as delivered. I have a number of DIY swaps documented on my website, my current favorite is the Mercruiser swap:

Given that the WOSP still requires mods, a DIY swap will bring as much joy at a fraction of the cost.

I think you are wise to stick with the original. I recently had my Lucas alternator (E-type S2) rebuilt by a local outfit that mostly caters to industrial and agricultural accounts. They even had new brushes in stock! Turns out that Perkins diesel engines are pretty common and these tend to have Lucas electricals!
