Hello, I also live in Herent and I have a 2005 XJ and a 2015 XJ. When will you get yours? I would love to see it.. I also use the dutch forum, and I know some good garages that won't cost you tons of money and I also have good links for parts etc.

I'm from Oostrozebeke, West-Vlaanderen.
Don't have a Jaguar yet but I'm looking for a reputable garage owner in the region that is knowledgable and doesn't charge too big for repairs... Aspiring to own a XJ8R.

The best garage is G&G autoservice, hands down.
I've been to a dozen garages in Belgium and the Netherlands. This guy is honest and passionate about what he does. The other ones don't know what they're talking about or are overpriced.

OMG.... This is for a 3.6 1700€/year to 3100? What this will do with the 4.2 or the 5.0?
Where can you check this?

I think a lot of people will start thinking of selling, but then again the new registration fees are also quite rediculous....

4.2 went from 1700 to 3100 euro, 3.5 will be around 2100.
All for the 'environment'...

How much liter is your engine and how much do you pay for traffic taxes?

I wish it was like that.
I think you will be in for a suprize. For a 4liter engine, which is 20 fiscal PK, you will pay 1.961,52 euro roadtax. Only if the car is older than 25 year you can use the cheap "old-timer" formula, which limits you a lot in the usage of the car.

I spoke with Ethias (they are one of the few companies that insure older than 10 years cars) the tax is 61,70. it is also on the website for the tax de mise circulation (if I spelled it correctly).

They have two categories:
15-20 years old called classic &
20-eternity that they called old-timer.

At the first category you pay 61.70 for the second I think it is less.

If the government decided that we have to pay more... Err well lets pay it. We only live once.... If I don't spend them in the car for sure I 'll spend them somewhere else.

Dimitris, you are probably talking about the insurance not the road tax.
Road tax of 4.2l (including co2) with new calculation method adds up to 2700.

What the 4.2L engine has to do with my car? are you talking for a new or a 17 years old? I didn't even pay much for my 1997 s500L for TAX...

As I wrote on a previous post, i don't mind paying it. If you thing that you ll get a Jag with the costs of a Fiat (just an example) you are well mistaken. Paying for a standard tax is the least of my worries.. Have a good day sir!!
