clear coat peeling 88 xj6
i have an 88 xj6 i just bought and got running inside the car is beautiful and its mechanicly sound but i have a preety bad clear coat where and am looking for some faster then usual ways to get rid of it just to have it look a bit better for the sale
I have the same issue.
The worst places were the Hood and roof.
I had a half arsed go at the trunk but it looks pretty bad right now.
The hood I took a fine sand block to, then a very fine wet/dry to remove any lumps and bumps. Then applied 1 layer of rubbing compound and 1 layer of hard wax... It came out soooo much better!. A few more layers of wax and it will be fine.
A better solution would be to remove the clear coat and take it and get it reapplied by a pro. But I know that can be costly. I got quoted $300 to repaint the hood, roof and one side panel with an enammal paint... :-\
