Default Some Changes To My XJR

So, I've been threatening to black out the brightwork on my XJR for some time now - going for the stealth look. I finally got around to actually doing it. I still have a set of Mina Gallery springs to put it in the weeds, but I haven't gotten around to them yet. Anyway, I thought I'd post some before and after pics to get your thoughts. Enjoy...or not...

Before - These were taken by the dealer...

After - I know I'm not much of a photographer...

The wheels you had on the car when you got it are chrome XK8 wheels. What did you do with them?

I have them in boxes in my garage. I wouldn't mind selling them, but here's the thing...the chrome is rough looking and peeling. They look fine from a distance, but certainly not close up. They're sharp looking wheels and I liked them on the car. If I had kept using them, I would've either had them re-chromed, or media blasted and painted them. If you want them, let me know what you have in mind.

Looks nice.
Black just doesn't look that great with the chrome usually.

Thanks. I like black and chrome but I really wanted a stealth look for this car.

I didn't feel the car's lines were modern enough to go with an all black wheel, so I tried to use the polished lips to play off of the little bit of brightwork that I left bright. I like the bright moldings on most XJs, but I like my R better with blacked out trim.

If I had to do it again I would probably go with 19 inch wheels instead of the 18s, but the Mina lowering springs should help me fill the wheelwells a bit.

This weekend, I had to do the brakes, so I took the liberty of replacing the rotors with plated, slotted, vented replacements. They look great through the mesh wheels, but they really call attention to the fact that I need to paint my calipers. Some other weekend, I guess...

Lookin good bigcat
What about a mid tint on the rears?

As for the calipers - Red, black or silver......what do you think?
You could also add the XJR decals to the calipers if you're so inclined as that finishing touch

The tint on my car now is 35%. It's the darkest allowed in Maryland. I agree that darker tint would look better.

I'm thinking silver calipers with XJR decals. I also thought that leaper decals would work well, but I haven't found a vendor to supply them. I did red calipers on the Porsche, but I think they'd be too distracting on the Jag...

Nice lookin Porsche there bigcat and the RED calipers really suit it, but, you're right IMO......Silver for the XJR and maybe the decals as a finishing touch!

The black wheels really make it look great. There is a real craze here for black cars, so much so it can be like being stuck in a funeral cortège.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the new rims, but the blacked out chrome looks great. Reminds me of a 2002 Xjr 100.

The black trim completely changes the car and I think makes it look much more purposeful and muscular. Nice! Did you use trim tape or...????

Black on black was a huge improvement, good choice.
