Engine blown on 2020 Fpace - corp not honoring warranty Timing Chain Error code
My 2020 F Pace model S has worked great until last weekend. I did not conduct service and oil changes at the dealership because I have a trusted mechanic so I followed the timing of every 10k miles or 1x per year. Have never had an oil light or engine light come on as long as I have had the car as the first owner. The car has low miles 36K. When i sensed trouble when i started the car (engine light came on), i plugged my FIXED module into the port of the Car and received codes -P0304 - Cyl 4 Misfire, P0300 - Random Misfire, P0019 - Camshaft Position Control, P1315 - Ignition Coil Secondary Circuit Malfunction, P0305 - Cyl 5 Misfire, P0306 - Cyl 6 Misfire and P008B - Fuel Pressure High.
The engine was running rough but then it was idling fine. I sent the codes to my mechanic and the first thing he said was - 'That is a timing Chain issue" He said to drive the car to his shop and it drove perfectly fine. Dropped it off and also told him we were likely due for another oil change and he said no problem. My Warranty expires on March 1 2025 or 60K miles which ever comes first. He started the car and called me later and said it was rough when he started it and then it idled fine - but then it turned off and it would not start. He tried to get a code reading but car would not stop so he suggested i call to see if i had warranty and I did when it happened and he suggested i take it to a dealer. The dealer said i had not serviced the car properly and it was because of the lack of oil that this happened. However, they did not have the records. So i picked up the service oil & filter and service check records (invoices) from my mechanic and dropped off at the dealership. Jaguar USA declined the warranty claim because they made claims about the Invoices and it was clear on them that all was in order. The dealership has a bad reputation so consumer protection suggested taking the car to another dealer because the dealership said there was nothing else they could do. I never gave the dealership the codes i pulled or the explanation of the Invoices that they questioned. They made fun of small business owner - my mechanic who only works on luxury cars and has a stellar reputation. I confirmed with the codes with another routable mechanic and he said it was a timing chain issue and that if I goggle online that Jaguar and Landrover engines have a notorious problem with the timing chains and that i would find thousands of entries about these issues. I feel something funny is going on because the first dealership mentioned that the engine for this car does not exist anymore and i just think they are trying to get out of this. Does anyone have insight for me or thoughts? thank you in advance. I am towing the car to the other dealership as we speak. BTW, oil light never came on and there was never an error about oil

Sorry to hear of your issues. On what grounds are they denying the claim? Law says you have to follow their service and maintenance intervals but not that they have to do it. What specifically is their concern?
I assume you are in the USA? Is it the 380hp 6 cylinder?
Out of interest, why didn't you do dealer servicing? It's free during the warranty period in the US so it's odd to pay someone else to do it?
Any tunes ever fitted to the car or other mods? They can detect that on the ECM even if they have been removed
30k miles is v low for a timing chain issue. Any other repairs or issues?

You’ll also want the trusted mechanic to print out the maintenance log from every visit. I do know that at least with our AutoLogic scanner, you can see the statistics from the last five (maybe more) oil changes. It’ll give you mileage and date when the services were done. Your dealership is just being pissy because it’s a huge warranty ding against them. JLR is going to seriously question the dealer when they go to collect from the manufacturer and if the dealer doesn’t have every i dotted and every t crossed to JLR’s liking, JLR won’t reimburse the dealer. I wish you the best of luck with this.

Please include engine in your post or signature. It could be assumed to be an AJ126 but JLR does some funny things with their marketing nomenclature.
Not having the dealership do the required free maintenance is an odd choice. For sure JLR isn’t looking to “help” you. Any reason to deny your claim will do. I had the dealership complete all of the required maintenances on schedule AND did my own oil changes at a 5,000 mile interval.
