Default Check Engine Light Question

Hi,

MY19 F Type R Coupe, 32k miles. Got a solid check engine light when driving it, drove fine. Took it right away to the dealer who just emailed me the video of the car and stated that it had 'timing correlation faults' and the oil was a little low (Last changed May 22, end of the month). Recommending oil change, clear faults, and will drive around.

Thoughts? Is this normally how the 'timing correlation ' faults are dealt with? I don't know the exact codes yet. It's just concerning since the car is almost out of warranty that I have a feeling this issue is going to pop up again in a few months.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Do not know the answer to your question, though I am sure somebody will suggest it is battery-related!!!
If it were me, I would get it back (assuming the dealer says it is OK) and drive the heck out of it before the warranty expires.
It is also a little odd that the oil level was low.
Presumably the dealer did an oil change last May as part of the annual service - did you check the level since then?
After the initial 2k miles when new, my 2021 V6 burns no oil between 8K mile annual oil changes.

In almost all cases a solid CEL means an emissions issue - O2 sensor, cat, EVAP, EGR etc - so usually nothing to really worry about.

My other concern is the oil consumption. I probably put 6-7k miles per year. I don't know what 'low oil ' is and will find out. Mainly drive to and from work, 70 miles round trip, all highway, mainly 5th @ 80 mph, RPM 3-4k. I've gone back through the oil consumption threads in the forum and it seems the majority of individuals on here who posted have minimal consumption between changes.

Assuming you park on level ground (and it must be really level!) it's easy to check the oil level each time you get in the car. That should give you a good indication of how fast the oil is disappearing.

Do you actually check the oil level? I was not sure from your post?
It seems you waited until the dealer told you it was low?
As you have read it is CRITICAL to keep a sharp eye on the oil level AND the coolant level at all times.
This is really the key to owning a Jaguar.

I do check it, last check it was 'OK'. The actual marker level can vary but it has always been 'OK'. He stated 'a little low' in the video, so again not sure what that means. I don't mind checking it and adding to it if this is within the normal spectrum. However, I'm worried that the burning is significantly abnormal and concerned about what the underlying issue causing the excess burning of oil is.

And VW, in my limited experience. And that was to spec, apparently!
