Default Just got home from a long trip ... and this happens

I've been down to the Mediterranean for the past four weeks. Done this same trip many times over the years in three other Jaguars and two Bentleys.

Covered a little over 5000 miles and not a scratch on the vehicle but it was plastered with insects when I got home in the early hours of Monday morning. Washed it later in the day and left it outside. Shortly afterwards a neighbour reversed across the street and into the side of it.

Next week before the local Jaguar Dealer can even give me an appointment for a quote. The door opens and shuts OK so I'm hoping they can pull the dent rather than replace the doorskin. Neighbour wants to pay for the damage rather than go through insurance but she could get a shock when she sees the cost. I've reported it to my insurers just in case she has a change of mind.

I've never been to Spain or Portugal. Spent some time in the south of France though. Even drove from Athens to Jerusalem once.. won't do that again!

Sorry about the mishap. Definitely right thing to do reporting it. I once got hit on the side in a parking lot and they guy begged me not to report it and said he'd pay for repairs. Then I find out he's a law student and he had reported it as my fault. I didn't get my car fixed.

They do say most accidents happen within five miles from home.

Hopefully they'll get it straightened out for you quickly.

Took it in to my Jaguar Dealer for an estimate today. Although the door closes properly, they found the frame is bent so it will have to be a new door rather than a new door skin. Awaiting the quote but the door is 809 UKP for a start.

JLR having one available is another question.

My wife did something like that when backing our 2017 XE out of the garage. She ran in into the front quarter panel of her new Audi Q3. Then she proceeded to call and blame me! Go figure. :-(

Dealer had the vehicle collected for repair last Friday - 7 weeks after their damage assessment.

It was taken to their bodyshop and didn't move again until yesterday. Bodyshop eMailed at 15:47 to advise that repairs were underway. At this point the vehicle had still not moved in four days. Two hours later it was started and moved. The InControl remote app then continued to advise me at regular intervals throughout the evening Did you remember to lock your vehicle?

Today InControl tells me the Doors are open. That's reassuring as they should be replacing one of them .

Interesting to be able to track the vehicle location and status with InControl but I'm amazed a Jaguar Dealer doesn't disable this feature when a vehicle is under repair. Nothing preventing me from remote starting it which could have catastrophic consequences.
