Default Mudflap "rivnuts"

I purchased a pair of the front mud flaps, p/n T4A18270, for our F-pace. Part of the installation calls for 4 supplied "rivnuts", or "nutserts", as they're also called, to be drawn into place on the mounting bracket. Included in the kit, is a hex headed bolt and "washer" to use, when drawing these items in place. (they're item "H", in the instruction sheet). Needless to say, this method didn't work as well as intended, and although I managed to get 2 of the 4 rivnuts properly installed, more or less, I wound up buggering the third.

Needing to get the car back together and driveable, I searched through my spare parts/hardware stash, and I found 2 metric hex nuts of the proper thread pitch, and with some minor cuts to my fingers, due to very limited work space, I was able to use them to secure the flaps. However, I don't like doing things improperly, so I've been looking for a couple more rivnuts, to do the job properly. The problem is, these particular nuts that Jaguar is using for this application, are VERY rare. What I mean is, they're of a smaller OD that the "standard" size rivnuts that my local, and/or online automotive hardware suppliers stock.

I talked with the parts department of my Jag dealer, and they were unable to source these parts through the Jag parts network, and I've tried 3-4 sources, myself. Would anyone happen to know where I could find some of these parts? If so, your help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you in the US? Have you tried Grainger? They usually have everything.

I tried them after I was unsuccessful at the automotive hardware supplier, as well as McMaster-Carr, another large industrial supplier. For some reason, Jaguar has chosen "non-standard" rivnuts, ones with a smaller OD, and it doesn't coincide with any other sized rivnut....

Damn...The only other place I can think of would be my Indy place in Jacksonville, FL. He's the largest volume distributor of Jaguar Parts in Florida. Worth a shot.

"Jacksonville", I have to thank you for getting me to reignite my search. I wound up back at McMaster-Carr, and looking through their rivnut inventory. It appears that when I initially looked at their selection, they, of course, had the OD of them in MM, since these particular rivnuts are a metric thread.. Apparently, when I did a "quick conversion", I didn't do the math correctly, and thought their OD was too big for the application. Turns out I was wrong, and after referring to a proper conversion chart, the ones McMaster had, were just what I needed.

Here's a shameless plug for McMaster. This is the third time, within the last month, that I've ordered some hardware items from them, and other than the first order, which I placed on a Friday afternoon, I've gotten my order the next day, with no "overnight" shipping charges. I'm impressed!

Nice! Glad it worked out. Also good to know there's another great source for difficult to find fasteners with great service.
