Default Serpentine pulley failure 2.0d

67k miles on 2018 Premium F-Pace diesel only dealer serviced. I had a pulley fail and caused serpentine failure. Towed to dealer. Extended warranty should cover it but why are these pulleys plastic? Weight reduction? Cost savings?
Disappointing to say it kindly.
I’ll update this thread with dealer explanation and cost to repair. She’s still at the dealer

Default Fixed

The dealer replaced the tensioner pulley and belt using my new warranty. It would have cost $507 but warranty covered $400 of it. Also, there is a TSB out on the pulley. Keep an eye on them. Replace if noisy bearing in the pulley. MM

Mike,

Good to hear it was fixed under warranty.

The 2.0 Diesel and 3.0 Diesel have different drive belt and tensioner designs:

F-PACE Drive Belts & Pulleys - 2.0 Diesel

F-PACE Drive Belts & Pulleys - 3.0 Diesel

Drive Belt tensioners have been problematic on Jaguars going back to the six cylinder X300's and continuing on the V8 models. Unfortunate to learn they still haven't resolved issues.

Graham
