“Reimagined “ announcement
Just watched 20 minute video announcement about the future of JLR.
Confirmed Jaguar will be all EV along with other strategies.
Looks like I will be hanging onto my R.
Sorry don’t have the link.

. The Jaguar luxury brand will transition to selling only electric vehicles in another step for the automotive industry away from gasoline.
Jaguar Land Rover, a British-based manufacturer owned by Indian automaker Tata Motors, announced Monday that the brand will make the shift beginning in 2025.
The company said it also expects 60% of Land Rover sales to be electric vehicles by 2030.

I got an I Pace as a loaner when my F Type was being serviced. 400hp. When you step on the go pedal it went. Very impressive HP. No drama. No noise. No symphony from the pipes. Holy crap acceleration! Do I want to go all electric? No thank you. I won't get into the infrastructure issues, the batteries, etc, etc. For as long as I can I'll keep the internal combustion engine.
While I will add an EV to my stable eventually for all the right reasons there isn’t anything I desire right now. As I buy cars from the heart that stir my soul and that includes exterior, interior and the driving experience Tesla certainly doesn’t do it for me at this point.
Not sure if ICE will disappear anytime soon as the infrastructure isn’t there to support everyone. I’m not necessarily making a “grid capacity” argument but more along the lines of how and where is everyone going to charge the EV in a city like Toronto. Every 30 story apartment or condo will need to equip every parking space in the building. Most people who live in a downtown core park on the street overnight which is the best time to charge. How’s that going to work? A cable across their front walk to the street? Hard wire a plug in at every curb?
It’s going to be interesting how this plus out over the next 10 years.

I think eventually is the operational word. It is going to happen if not on current scheduls. Auto companies only started to find increased gas mileage after being forced to and Lee Iaccoca said the public would never pay for "safety". I remember gas wars at 21 cents a gallon with a clean windshield and full service plus a free glass! Things evolve as times demand. Of course my father's car got 8mpg!
"When questioned about the new strategy, JLR CEO Thierry Bolloré refused to promise that Jaguar will offer anything that could be described as a sports car beyond 2025."

If these people have their way, in the future you will not be allowed to have anything but access to self-driving beige appliances. So get your 'desirable' cars now, they will likely have to last you the rest of times.
This is how acute soy milk poisoning looks like when it is in the late and terminal stages.
We have a lot of diesels on our roads, they are stinking filthy things. You cant even drive with your windows down while the tradies are off to jobs at 6.30AM for the stench.
Between that and the squeeze for smaller bore/less cylinder force fed engines which deliver more power more efficiently, a lot of the character is leaving ICE engines anyway. You'll probably be quite limited in choice for a supercharged V8 in 5 years time, and good luck finding a NA anything, and manuals will be like the proverbial **** on a bull. Instead we will have characterless transmissions with 10 and up gears which will perform brilliantly but be zero fun to use.
Having regard to the inevitability of all of that, I'm pretty positive about the EV change. Of course it is inconvenient with the absence of charging stations, but then we can always plug them in at home overnight and it isnt as though we can refuel our ICE cars at home. Charging times will get quicker, infrastructure will be made. All good IMO.
So like many of you, I'm not about to change my car for an electric today, but I see it as virtually inevitable and actually a good thing long term.

The right tool for the right job! I see the value of EVs for specific purposes, but battery storage capacity hasn’t been developed enough to support a GT platform. The 300+ mile range hyped by Tesla assumes Blanche DuBois is driving. Range drops to less than 50 miles if you’re hot footing it through the twisties. OK if you can get a refill every 50 miles, but as has been noted, the infrastructure just isn’t there and a 3 hr pit stop just isn’t practical even if it were.
