just realized Deakins isn't working on it, but I've absolutely loved DCraig's run. Casino Royale is still one of the best films made. Subjective opinions subjective. =) I am super duper excited, good sirs.

Default The film

My dealer gave me 4 tickets to a preview/private showing of the new film for November 5. Looking forward to it.

Just finished watching the movie courtesy of my dealer. Good turnout for the private screening. I won't spoil the movie for the rest of you though

So did you like it? How were the car scenes, especially regarding the villain's Jag?

I saw it last night courtesy of the AM dealership in NJ. Very good...awesome chase scene for both cars. I drive my FT and there was another IRR FTR Vert parked 2 cars away from me in the dealers lot with Rutgers NJ plates. Waited after the movie until we were the last 2 cars but finally left without meeting the owner. Nice car.

Also saw the movie last night in Dallas. Must have been 9 or 10 FTypes there. Movie was very good. Glad to see the Jaguar survived and the DB10 went for a swim.

After leaving the theater driving home I had a Bentley with a W12 pull up along side me at the light. I wasn't in racing mood, more like cruise around town mode.... Well I can say that the Bentley can get off the line like a bat out of hell.

I thought the movie was just ok. Storyline was a little weak and I thought the car chase scene wasn't exciting enough - like it was dragged out a little too long just to fill time. I thought overall it was an entertaining movie but it will not make the top 10 bond films of all time list IMO.

Just got back from seeing it. Liked it. Not the best but entertaining and fun to find the hidden tributes to the past. The cars looked great. Overall 4 out of 5 stars in my view. My car crazy son loved the vehicles in Rome. Suffice it to say there were some sweet rides in that parking lot.

Finally caught this on monday and was pretty disappointed. The movie as a whole was poor. Definitely lacked something and I'm ready for Craig to hang up his 00 status. He looked bored and that made me bored.

But the cars and chase should surely keep me entertained right? Nope. They had two of the coolest movie cars in recent times in a killer location (Rome) and we end up with that lame "follow me" chase? It was just so poorly directed and edited. I think I saw better camera angles from the people that caught the filming on their cell phones earlier this year.

That's almost exactly what the Washington Post reviewer said.

Couldn't agree more! (But then I also wasn't a big fan of Skyfall either). Love Craig - fine actor - but these/his last 3 Bonds aren't high on my list. On the other hand, Casino Royale, his first, is. It's not my usual style... but after that film I actually bought the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean; the limited edition version [note the 007 on the second hand]. Beautiful watch, and I'm not even all that into watches.

There are actually two Jags in SPECTRE, the C-X75 driven Mr. Hinx and the ill-fated XJR (X350) driven by M near the end.

The C-X75 is much faster than Aston Martin's DB10 and had to be 'dialed back' during the filming.

Cheers,
Wolfy

I may be incorrect, but I swore I also saw an F-Type in the parking lot when Bond arrives at "The Meeting"...

Well I only know the Jags that are actually driven in the movie.
Like many people, in the movie trailer I mistook the DB10 for the F-Type.

There was an FType in the parking lot at the Meeting. As I recall it was in second row to the left.

I recently saw Spectre...
- yes, there is a Jaguar F-Type in the parking lot next to the McLarens, etc.
- the chase scene w/ the Aston Martin and Jaguar was very disappointing. Frankly, only reason I went to see the movie (in the theater instead of waiting for DVD) was the car chase scene, but it was very underwhelming. Good eye candy, but that's about it...
- you can definitely mistake the bond car for a souped up F-Type :-)

One could say the same of the overall movie
