17 SVR Sounds Different
New F Type owner here. Purchased a 17 SVR from a JLR dealer two weeks ago. After receiving it I noticed it was a bit loud in the engine area but after reading many threads it seems like it was a bit normal. My 11 XF is a little ticky as well so I thought nothing of it.
A few months prior to the purchase I met a F Type R owner in my area in a chance meeting in a parking lot. I kept in contact with him and I gave him a call today to show him my new car and hear what his sounded like. After hearing the two side by side, mine clearly had a loud ticking. It actually seems to be more prevalent when you sick you head under the car, not so prevalent in the engine compartment. No CEL has come on, and to me the vehicle seems to be running as expected.
Also today, in my hunt for answers I found a video relating to the clunk from the supercharger pulley. Now I feel like I hear that as well.
So here is my ask, can you listen to these two videos and give me your thoughts? I am a bit upset because you would think a JLR dealer that touts a 116 point inspection would have found something if this was an issue.
Hoping it is nothing major but I and not feeling very upbeat on this car now.

Sounds like your typical normal but noisy JLR engine.
FYI...multipoint inspections don't mean anything. Its mainly a marketing tool and half the time the techs will just check the box for the sake of checking it.

Doesn't sound to me like either the standard worn SC coupler rattle or "clonk" on shut down.
I had both on my F-Type (V6 vs V8 though) and I know what they sound like.
The rattle is way more irregular and louder than the even tick tick tick in your vid, often described as "marbles in a tin can", and the shut down clonk is also much louder and more pronounced than in your other vid.
Your loudish ticking is probably just the standard fuel injector tick plus maybe a bit of HP fuel pump tick, especially if it sounds louder under the car as the HP fuel pumps are on the bottom of the RH side of the engine block.

Has anyone ever compared the sound on an SVR to an R? I realize they’re the same engines, but have they done anything to reduce weight by taking some plating off or sound deadening other than the obvious engine cover?
Don't worry too much about the SC snout noise. They are common and yes I plan to fix mine but it's been clunking on shutdown as OzXFR posted above for over 20K miles. It's not a big thing and it's not terribly expensive to repair.
