Default 1st post, question from a prospective F-Type owner

Hi everyone. Am about a year away from selling my 997 (2007 Carrera) and definitely interested in a pre-owned F-Type ... V-6S or the 400 Sport would be my preferences.

Anyway, we live "in town" in a 1930s house and, while very happy to have a garage, the opening is only 89 inches wide.

Will an F-Type fit comfortably through that size door?

My research shows the car's width is about 75" (75.71" to be exact) and the mirrors will fold in, but figured I'd throw this out to the experts.

Thanks in advance!

I just measured.

You wont have issues even with the mirrors in the 'open' position, but it WILL make you nervous at first. Just go slow the first few times. Hopefully you will have a straight approach.

Mirrors out = 81", with them in = 72" I reverse mine in because with the 2-car garage, there's more access for the door swing. I practiced a dozen times, without any problems before I fully had confidence. And the backup camera, along with front sensors help too.

Thanks for the quick reply. Great to hear and appreciate your pulling out the tape measure!

I have a pretty straight shot into the garage but you're right ... will have to take it ultra-slow at first until I get comfortable with the F-Type's dimensions. That big, long hood is going to be something.

Thanks again.

You could always dedicate one seat setting to 'Garage Entry'...with the seat all the way up.

Another useful habit at first: activate the Parking Aid System button whenever pulling into the garage & parking spaces.

It's better than curb feelers for your Cat.

Garage entry is just one of the many specific activities filled with joy. That long hood is reminiscent of the original E type, the F is it's spiritual successor. The hood is needed to contain the hundreds of spirited Jaguars, masquerading as horses. Presuming that you do reverse into your garage, first, be sure you are in dynamic mode to listen to the burbling exhaust --- with the top down of course -- then as you wrap up your trip, just lift the button to lower the top and close the windows. Press the start/stop button and the car will choose Park as well. Exit and admire your fine choice!

With the mirrors in open position, you see much better the gaps between garage and the car, going backward. I think that even in the Jag I see them better as in all other cars. And you can even activate the reverse mirror dip, so the big cat is not jumping on the house *****.

You’ll have plenty of room to pull in the car without retracting the mirrors. I have a tight two car garage and easily pull it in with only an inch to spare next to the drivers mirror. That would leave you with 7 inches to clear the right mirror.

^^ THAT is the key...keep the mirror closest to you about an inch clear of the side, and the other side will pass without drama.

Good advice.

Thanks everyone, for your responses. Got to love enthusiast websites, where a query has multiple members running out to their cars with tape measures in tow!
