Default 2015 F type R Seat Swap

So this might sound sort of crazy but I have silver car with black seats & white stitching and I always wanted the red seats or red and black. Is there anyone that is over having red seats and red and black seats and would like to swap them out for black? They are in pretty much perfect shape so I expect the same for swap. If anyone is interested let me know.

Thanks Matt

Its a bit more complicated than that. Sensors related to the airbags are VIN specific and can throw a SRS light on.

I have not researched it to much. Just wanted to test out the waters if anyone was interested before I really dig into project. Its always the case being more complicated when dipping into things.

You could always just replace the covers. It's a fiddly job if you are setting all the little wire loops by hand but it's not technically difficult.

New the covers will be silly money, but sometimes you find complete sets available on auction websites where they were bought for an insurance repair job after an airbag deployment and then not fitted when the repairer realised the entire seat needed replacing. I got a new set for my X350 front and back for £100.

As mentioned the SRS stuff will need reprogramming and must be from a compatible VIN range. If you get a good deal on new seats you can always swap the sensors over, but it is quite a bit more involved than just replacing the covers and you would still need to recalibrate the sensors.

Any upholsterer can take your seat covers and replace the center panels quite easily. Why not buy about 3 yards of Passion Suede (the same type of synthetic suede used on the optional seats) and have it done. The suede is available for well under $10/yd. (I buy it wholesale for about $4/yd) I would doubt labor and materials would cost you more than about $300, far less than buying new covers or even the shipping costs if you could find the seats you want. I have some leftover red, but a darker red, not a bright red. I'd be happy to give it to you if the color works. Let me know if you want a sample and I'll mail it to you
