2015 F-type spot a S from a Base model
Hello.
I'm new to the brand having owned several sports cars before.
I'm very excited about my imminent purchase of a 2015 F-type Convertible.
The car is a 3.0 V6. How can I visually check it's a S or a Base model? Apart from the badges obviously.
Different digit in the VIN? Any cues?

Thank you!

The easiest way to tell from the outside without any badges is to check out the front brakes.
The S came standard with the larger 380 mm front brakes and the base came standard with 355 mm front brakes. The calipers and anti-rattle clips look similar but they are different and once you become familiar with the different appearance you can pick 'em a mile away.
Trawl through the various brake threads and you should find some pics of the two different front brake set-ups.
Of course that little trick won't work on a base which has been optioned with the bigger brakes but I would hazard a guess that is/was extremely rare.
Another way to tell is to check out the engine bay (if you can), the S came standard with adaptive suspension and the base did not, a car with adaptive suspension will have wiring plugged into sockets on the tops of the front shock mounts and a base will not. I don't think adaptive suspension was an option on a base but I stand to be corrected!
Edit - the picture post thread is probably a better bet for finding decent pics of the different front brakes: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-thread-86517/
