Technical bulletin just tells the dealer about an issue and what to do. It's not a recall and is not automatically paid for. If you are under warranty and have the issue then it will be covered like any warranty issue. If not then you are paying out of pocket. The bulletin shows around 4 hrs labour, give or take. So that's maybe $700 plus parts.

This forum has been great - to both inform and provide the proper caution when choosing one of these fine beasts. I will need to pull the trigger next week on the silver 2016 R convertible - still debating a 2013/14 Boxster S and pocket around $10K. BUT, the two cars do not compare visually or power wise - the Jag is a stunner. The 2016 year provides some concern, however an extended warranty should provide cover.

I do remain concerned about the Jag's service but have budgeted an extended warranty.

First world problems....

I was in the market for either an F Type R or a 911 and that is still night and day difference. With a Boxster S they are, as you said, insanely different. The Jag is just a much heavier, more muscle car as opposed to a quick, nimble Porsche. I think the 13/14 Boxster is the last generation with the 6 cylinder normally aspirated which there is little you can do to add power if that is a goal of yours. The Jag has so many options due to the supercharger. Apples and oranges.
