I have been the happy owner of a MY2016 V6 S Coupe AWD for the past 2.5 months, but recently I noticed a ticking noise while idle. I'm not sure if it has always been there. Maybe I'm just happening to notice it now that I'm starting the car with the windows down, or it could be more of a recent development. Either way, I'd appreciate any insight on whether or not I should be concerned by this engine noise.


This video was taken right after a cold start on a 90 degree day. The sound is quieter, but still audible after a drive. Some additional info: the car has just over 30,000 miles on it, also the oil level reads OK and is right at the upper bar without going over.

 

I ran a V6S for nearly 7 years and had the same noise, if it goes when the engine is warm, it's likely to be the high pressure fuel pump.

 

I have the same noise with my 2016 R. No issues yet.

 

Pretty sure it's the supercharger coupling going bad. Mine does it too. It might last forever, or it might go today. I had the same issue on another TVS-equipped car (truck actually).
