Default 2016 vs 2017 base F Type

What exactly am I missing in a 2017 base vs 2016 base?

Price being equal, which would you get, and why? (2016 base is about $67k, 2017 base is about $63k, and both could be had for about $60k)

Discuss.

Major items that came standard on the 2016 base:

-Glass panoramic roof
-Full power seats
-Power foldable mirrors

The 2017 base pretty much comes as is with most options not even available to add on.

Where are you from?

The standard fit options vary massively when compared from region to region.

I can live without those... but since both can be had for $60k after negotiations, not sure which would be a better buy...

I would go with the 2017 Premium Base. Something about manual seats in a car in this segment just doesn't seem right.

Premium Base is $68k msrp, which is out of my price range.

I think the base model has a lot of short fallings. Even the base should come standard with full power seats, and backup camera.. not add the premium package for $4k extra and vision package for another $4k extra. My mom's $18k niossan has standard backup camera

If that were the case then I'd see if you can hunt down a 2016 base.

I would think you can get a new 2016 base for less than 60k. When shopping for the 16, make sure to ask if the warranty has started. It may have been purchased by the dealer even if new. Dealer gets additional discount from JLR in that case. I usually try for 20% discount from MSRP,on car that is a model year old. YMMV.

20% off a 2015 R version might happen

so the general consensus is a 2016 base is a better buy than a 2017 base, if both could be had for the same price?

I would concur, as long as they are both new and you get the 5yr warranty with both.

Yes both would have a 5yr/60k from the date of purchase
