Did you have the car on a charger? That’s your best option moving forward, if possible.

it wasn’t on a charger so yes going forward long trips will be on a charger or leave a key with someone

Hopefully you were able to get into the car with the remote. Replace that FOB battery YEARLY.

Also, might be worth it to procure a second key and FOB.

He doesn’t have a first key, as I understand it, so he can’t get a 2nd. I’m unclear if Jag can/will sell you a key just from your VIN.

Yes, be sure that it isn’t just a case of the fob battery being dead. I think mine last for something like 3-4 years.

As others suggested, try a new battery in the fob just in case.
other than that, is it a convertible or coupe? People have posted on here how to break into the boot of a locked convertible (glad I have a coupe ), then you can charge the battery

The only ones I recall were disconnected battery and trunk closed, so front jump points didn’t help, but they could get into the car and splice into the trunk release. I don’t recall anyone getting into a locked car without a physical key. Hope I’m wrong…

I know that a dealer can get you another mechanical key via a VIN...we bought one when our car was new to us.

AND on the Vert at least, you can crawl under the car and remove a vent, then reach and pull the trunk release located inside. Thus, access the battery.
