Hey everyone, I was just about to pull the trigger on the 2017-2018 Harmon UAD CarPlay kit, when I popped off the cover to see if I def had the Harmon unit and mine looks like nothing I’ve seen during all my research/searches/videos…does anyone recognize this set up…is this maybe what they use for the cars that come with the 10 inch screen??? I’m kind of lost now.

Well guess there was another system I was not aware of..an IMC based system…so thinking that’s what I have…I did find a thread about changing out to the 10 inch JLR screen…not sure how much of a headache that can become…

 

I think I have this as well (also 2018 F-Type) - I contacted UAD and they said that https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wire...ype-2017-2018/ would work with my car.

Try giving UAD an email and let me know what they say - I've been thinking about purchasing but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

 

Try seeing if there is a local independent specialist near you that can provide you with a genuine/oem upgrade to the 10" display.

 

Well I decided to take the path of least resistance and try the UAD unit. They said it would still work with my hardware…so we shall see….and will report back. Thanks again everyone.

 

Just a quick follow up with the UAD unit and my specific 2018 model year….I ended up going with the UAD even though I know I could have gone with an 10 inch screen, then have a dealer update softer, then add a wireless dongle…but wanted to go with something without all the possible unknowns.

The UAD unit works as designed, only real difference between the Bosch or Harmon I could find was install…On my 2018, it was a mix of both installs…requiring accessing the power port in the center consul between the seats…then also having to connect to the actual screen. So no crazy hard pink connector to try and remove…but getting to the power chord was a little tough due to the placement of everything…like Jaguar didn’t want people messing around in there lol.

All in all I’m happy with the UAD system, works as designed…still wanting better base with the meridian 770 system…just on the fence about adding any type of sub, or base link etc..

Glad everything went well with the upgrade! Have you thought about swapping in the Kevlar JLR speakers? Supposedly a direct replacement fit for the door speakers: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...3/#post1851275

 

I have read up on the direct replacement speakers…but honestly I think I’d prefer adding some type of sub, and just lower all/most base going to the mid/sub factory speakers…neither option is ideal of course.
