Well about time the Old Mans Jaguar had all the other comforts like Lane Departure Alert, Park Assist, RoadSign Nanny, Sleepy Time Alert but don't give them ACC - think of the potential accidents averted ;-)

I had the coffee warning on my SLK55 but can't remember it ever coming on.

 

If I ever saw that symbol on any of my cars, I'd be expecting a fresh pot of coffee to appear in the glove box. C'mon guys, this car is for driving, not to be taxi'd around in by the computer.

 

I had the "coffee cup" warning symbol on one of my cars from a few years ago and it popped up after two hours of non-stop driving. This was a fairly mundane "family" car and the base model at that, so it's nothing new or high tech. I completely ignored it, I have driven for 13 hours non-stop other than for refuelling stops a few times, the distances between towns and gas stations in the Outback dictate that it makes no sense at all to stop every two hours or so.

 

The driver monitor on my 04 Audi S4 was also very simple. A two hour egg timer. When two hours of continuous driving was up, it flashed an alert in the driver display. You just had to press the OK button and it reset for another two hours. I eventually found out how to turn it off completely.

One day the dash lit up with an icon that looked like Mount Vesuvius erupting and a bunch of ding ding ding from the bowels of the dashboard. In a panic I pulled over and consulted the friendly owners manual - apparently my washer bottle was low. Way to over dramatize there Mr Vorsprung Durch Technic...

 

I am also very sad that our cars don't have ACC, it really comes in handy in heavy bay area or LA traffic, otherwise I obviously prefer to drive myself. Those of you who are often in traffic and haven't tried a car with ACC should. It's freaking awesome.

 

I'd take Head-up Display any day over ACC

 

I also vote for the HUD. Had one on my Vette, several cars ago, and still miss it. My V1 also displayed in the HUD.

I don't understand how ACC helps in heavy traffic - in my XFR it disconnected at speeds lower than 30mph or something or needing to brake turned it off anyhow. Maybe our concepts of heavy traffic differ ;-)

And the day I need park assist on any vehicle is the day I turn in my car keys...

Well said! :-) I couldn't really care less about most of the electronic crap on my car.
