2018 F-Type R-Dynamic AWD low mileage maintenance?
Hello, questions about maintenance I should do. 8 years with the Ftype, only about 25,000 KM or 16,000 miles. Driving short distance to work and back. There were firmware upgrades, O2 sensor changes twice, TCU assessment at dealers. I have done most of the oil changes myself using dealer provided filters and oil.
Looking for recommended maintenance I should do now for the vehicle, with the vehicle age and mileage. I was just recommended to a Import Car Shop that has experience with Jags, and want to go in with the requests to them to confirm. Thanks,

Gotcha. Off the top of my head: I’d have the coolant flushed and of course, look for coolant leaks. A water pump leak can happen at any point, not relative to use. I’d change the little plastic elbow at the water pump out for the RKX brass kit. See if your brake boost vacuum pump is leaking yet. You say you’re doing your own oil changes but at what interval? Usually 5,000 miles or yearly would be minimum IMHHEO. If you really do lots of little trips then the oil isn’t really getting hot enough to cook off whatever fuel is getting by the rings. Might want to do an Blackstone oil test to see if you need to up the interval. Always use top tier premium fuel, avoid fuel treatments other than Marine Stabil if you store over the winter and are stuck with a little ethanol in your fuel supply. For gosh sakes never use SeaFoam.
I drive the vehicle year round, so no storage. Has always been premium fuel. have not used fuel treatment before. change oil about 3000 miles.
Yes, i have heard about the water pump leak. KOW, it has not happened yet.
Anything to consider on transmission oil?

We shoot a can of CRC GDI Intake Valve and and turbo cleaner through the engine, before our yearly oil change. Reduces chances of stuck injectors, and keeps the valves clean.

(Instructions start ~ 10:20)
Buy some clear vinyl tubing, long enough to reach around to the right side of the engine where you will disconnect a vacuum line to spray it in.
A one-person operation.

Opinion’s on the tranny fluid are mixed.
My dealership suggests to not touch it as it’s “filled for life” and they won’t change the oil just for grins. They feel it’s a situation where if they touch it against JLR’s wish’s then they get stuck if anything goes wrong. My off again/on again boss at Bentley’s Marine and Electronics is/was a level 4 JLR tech and played service manager for a while before going out on his own. He agrees. JLR uses a fancy crazy expensive mineral oil in the tranny and it’s better to leave it alone.
On the other hand, plenty of guys on the forum have done it and do not report ill effects. I would say if your shop is also BMW guys then they should be familiar with the proper ZF procedure. DO NOT flush the tranny. Just a drop and fill with new pan/filter.
My personal stand is I’m a bit of a fleet owner, all with 65K-110K miles and I’ve never had a tranny problem. I do differential fluids regularly and the transfer case on the F Type regularly (F Pace’s are again, filled for life). This is mileage based and I don’t see you needing that for a while. Do check for pinion seal leaks.
