Default 2020 on order colour delimma

After a couple of years with my 2015 S I placed an order for a 2020 R and now the wait begins.

Carpathian grey with 5 spoke carbon fibre rims and black interior. Basically the same set up I fell in love with when I walked into a dealership a few years back but wasn’t in the position to get it.

However walked into another dealership yesterday looking at colour options and really liked an F type in Loire blue. For 2020 that colour is replaced with Portofino blue that looks close on line but not sure I want to commit to a colour on a screen. I have some time to change my mind before the order is final. Yes I know first world problems...

Thanks for listening

It'll be a long time before you ever get a real world example of portofino blue. Certainly your order will be final before then. Personally I wasn't willing to take a gamble so I went with ultra blue, at least knowing what it looks like.

My second choice was caldera.

I had the same problem when I placed the order for my '16. I had it narrowed down to two new colors ... er ... colours, both of which were new and I wouldn't see in person for many months. I did a mental coin flip. I hope your first world problem sees a satisfactory solution.

Good to see a North 'Murican (Fjmviper) spelling colour correctly!

He's not so hot on "dilemma", though ...

I usually just edit typos in thread titles but now you've mentioned "delimma", I'll leave it.

You guys are funny. I had a delimma over the spelling of dilemma so I consulted many on line dictionaries and can say with confidence it is no longer a delimma but a dilemma.

I blame the late night and refusal to wear glasses.

Hope I don’t make the same mistake with the colour choice.

You only swapped a couple of vowels, and gave us the opportunity to indulge in some light-hearted banter, no malice involved!

Hope all goes well with your colo(u)r choice.

Get the grey. Looks very distinguished on the Jag. Neutral colors tend to be easier to live with and prove slightly easier to sell when (if) the time comes. Not to mention, it'll be easier to keep clean vs. the dark blue.

Get the blue. The world has too many grey cars already. The two blues look quite close on the screen. It’s remarkable how difficult it is to find a set of colour chips.

It's really impossible to properly judge without seeing in person, on a car, in daylight. I occasionally have colour-choice remorse, but it's mild and passes quickly. If I had to wait to see an F-Type in person of each colour I'd still be waiting to decide.

Canadians are not 'Mercans/'Murcans". We spell properly ("colour")...and the last letter of the alphabet north of the Canada-US border is "zed" not "zee"☺️
And we are generally not very fond of the colour orange.

AIUI, "color" was the correct spelling at the time the US split from its masters so didn't pick up the subsequent changes the Victorians made when they "tidied up" the language.

Previous comments about British/Canadian/Australian/New Zealand/SouthAfrican etc English vs American English aside (hmmmm...that list of countries might make you think...), American spelling is generally far more logical in terms of its relationship to pronunciation. While a Canadian pronounces the word "lieutenant" as [lef-tenant], an American says [loo-tenant], much closer to the original French...there are many other examples, "colour" vs "colour" being a variation. The "u" alters the pronunciation not a whit so why should it be there? Nevertheless, most of the English-speaking world KNOWS that it should be there. And then there is the issue of the pronunciation of "Jaguar"...

Grey is a dull color, if you would even call it a color. It’s plain. F-type needs to be red, orange, black etc

Should we turn this spelling into a discussion on the metric vs imperial system

I agree that the F type looks great in most colours and I really like Nati’s choices in bold colours having seen his current one in person. I find black hides it’s beautiful lines so I have decided to go with the carpathian grey with pimento seat inserts.

Decisions decisions

It can’t be claimed that most Muricans get that one right. 9 times out of 10 they’ll say Jaguire.

Having been on the Maine Wild Blueberry Blast with 14 f types, I'd agree.

Another vote for the Ultra Blue, just ordered mine with this colour. I instantly fell in love with it, looks awesome, especially with black wheels and black pack. Although it's really attention-grabbing, so if you want something more decent take another colour.
