Lowered, Xida Race shocks, Eibach springs, race alignment, on Hankook Ventu RS4 street tires.
Out-braking them? I thought that Miatas were so fast because you guys don't use the brakes, and just removed all that useless weight, hah. Kidding aside, I was very impressed by the laptimes the Super Miatas were turning at Willow Springs. Another big advantage of a light car is the MUCH lower expense on consumables - tires and brakes. I just shake my head when I read about tracking F-Types, but to each their own!

99.9999% of spirited driving is on public roads.

Lower consumables costs is a big plus unless you don't need to care about that. Another big plus is that you can push the envelope a lot harder, If I go off or hit a curb badly and bend something, or catch a rock chip, or a rock in the radiator it's all cheap to fix. I would never push the Jag to that absolute edge on a track, the inevitable repairs or cosmetic upkeep required to keep it looking great would be insane.

You are correct, that applies to new Corvettes, 911’s etc. Racing is for project non street cars. Oddly, there are those who race expensive cars AFTER they remove the, wheels, carbon brakes etc..Lol
I would never track any road car.

OTOH, I always suggest to the owners of newer sports cars (even Miatas! <<DUCKS>>) that they try at least ONE HPDE day at a racetrack, with an instructor. That gives them a real sense of the potential of the car, a potential that is a bit unsafe to explore on the street.

I agree! Jaguar used to have events like that and Land Rover still does. I just rather use THEIR vehicle for the racing, and instruction.

Since Jaguar doesn’t do it anymore, I’d rather rent an F Type for such purposes. Luckily for me, I know the road limits of my car since I am near winding public roads with little traffic. Google: The SmokingTire

Yep, Vettes has always had lousy stock exhaust sounds.
The sound list by price are 1. USA Muscle cars, 2. Jags and Rovers, 3. AMG GT, 4. Thé Italians
