It was that time again to visit the beautiful and friendly confines of the Vail Concours - without last year's drama when I forgot to register. As always, the weather was perfect with a crisp fall cloudless deep blue sky. The cars began to enter at 6:30 am. It seemed like there was a better turnout this year than last year. As we arrived, I was surprised to see another F-Type SVR! Probably the only other F-Type SVR in Colorado. So, of course I was parked right next to it. We exchanged information and promised to keep in touch.
The two SVR's were at the end of the lineup but they still attracted a lot of attention. It took awhile for the judges to get to us later in the afternoon. Once that was accomplished, we walked around to see all of the spectacular cars that were displayed or being judged. I'll post a video of the show when it's available. The awards presentation was scheduled for 2:30. So the entrants all sat silently awaiting the news if they had won an award.
After what seemed like an eternity, they finally got around to my class which was European Cars from the late 90's to current. They called out Third place, then Second place without hearing my name. When they announced the First Place, they prefaced it with, "This person is very familiar with winning in Vail", followed by announcing that a 2018 BRG F-Type was the class winner! Needless to say I was very surprised because the SVR had somehow managed to win "Best Of Class" for the two previous years!
Many of the volunteers and judges from current and past Concours came by to say hello and congratulate me for the third consecutive win at the Vail Concours. If you have never been and you can make it, I highly recommend visiting Vail during the Concours. The show is first class as are the people of Vail. They are friendly and I now look forward to seeing my Vail friends every year! My SVR was also awarded Best Of Class for the Southwest Region of the United States by the official National Jaguar Club of North America with scores averaging 9.998 out of 10 points last year.
Here's a few pics of the two SVR's side by side. What a sight to behold!
