Default 300 lbs? Who could have knowde?

Sold my F type factory take off wheels and tires and was surprised to find at shipping weigh-in the set of wheels and tires weighed 300lbs!

Seriously? My giant 35" x 12.5 wide ridge grappler tires and heavy alloy wheels off my Tundra weigh in at 400lbs for the set.

Perhaps those forged blade wheels are forged from lead....

BTW, any other petrol heads like me that buy and sell wheels routinely for their cars - Fastenal offers great shipping rates store to store, you just have to box them and strap em to a pallet.

A few weeks ago I weighed one of my 20" Blade wheels with the stock P-Zero 295/30ZR20 tyre and I think it weighed 26.5 kilograms. I only "think" coz I'm going by rusty memory.
If that is correct, 26.5 kg converts to 58.4 lb, times four = 233.6 lb.
So either they had a lend of you at 300 lb, or they included the weight of a stack of packing/wrapping material.

Sure that wasn't DIM weight vs. actual weight?

I weighed each box on my scale at home and was getting 75 lbs for the rears, 65 for the fronts. That did included the box and the stryofoam inserts... but did not include the pallet.

Fastenal was cool, they charged me for my estimated weight of 200lbs, didn't seem to care as much about weight as size. Great company to ship with. UPS and the like were $100+ per wheel/tire, Fastenal was just under half that amount.

That doesn't sound right. A full set of the stock P Zeros for the R would weigh a total of 110 lbs. It's doubtful the stock wheels weigh more than 30 lbs each. So the total should be around 230 lbs.

Wheel weight depends on rim size of course, but most of the stock 20" wheels weigh between 35 and 40 lbs.

Have you weighed them or is that a guess? That would be pretty shocking if true. The GTR wheels, for reference, which are roughly the same size, weigh 25 front (9.5 x 20) and 27 rear (10.5 x 20). It's hard to imagine how the F-type wheels could weigh 35 lbs for fronts and 40 lbs for the rears.

Edit: it looks like they are shockingly heavy, although I don't know if anyone here has weighed them to confirm. Reportedly they weigh 34 for front and 37.5 for rear. Wow. Going with lightweight wheels would make a huge difference.

That's better, but still at least 7 lbs too heavy per corner.

I just whipped a rear wheel off (recce for fitting new rear brakes) and weighed it.
20" Blade rim with P-Zero 295/30ZR20 tyre (quite worn!).
27.2 kg = 60 lb.
So probably another lb or two with new tyres.
