Default 400 Sport - colour codes for wheels & callipers?

I've posted this on UK forum, but wondering if anyone here knows the 400 Sport colour codes for
  • Dark satin grey wheels. I need them refurbed.
  • Black callipers. I want the rear ones painted to match the front ones. Jag dealer wouldn't do this under warranty, and they're beginning to look a but crap, spoiling the look of the car.

Good luck. I don't believe I have ever seen color codes for Jag wheels or calipers.

Ah, ok. Thanks. I'll chase up my local dealer after the holidays. Someone must know! 🙄

Paint the calipers yourself, dead easy and very cheap (one rattle can of gloss black caliper paint), don't pay a dealer big quids for such a simple job.

I agree with painting them yourself. It is easy and total cost is about $20.
Where I would differ is in technique. Here's what worked well for me: Three coats of color--I used Duplicolor Red--applied with a fine bristle brush, thus avoiding having to mask things and worry about over spray. Allow to fully cure for a few weeks, wipe down with mineral spirits, rough up with steel wool and follow with 3 coats high gloss high temperature clear. I sprayed the clear after masking areas I didn't want sprayed, but think a brush would work as well. The clear really made a big difference in how clean and free of brake dust the end result became.
Just my opinion and method, of course.

Thanks for the advice. I won't do them myself. Instead, I'll ask my detailer to do them at the same time as doing the wheel refurbs. More than happy to pay him for a decent job than to faff around trying to do it myself. 😉

I'm only contacting dealer to see if they can obtain colour codes for me.

I had to look that one up: faff. You Brits have a language, or at least a slang, all your own. But keep your pecker up, all will work out.

I had to explain "gobsmacked" the other day. They get "bollocks" now....a friend of mine had a custom plate in Dallas "BOLLOX" which the DPS never picked up on...

SLANG = Too funny!

I've had very good luck with G2 caliper paint. It is sold in a kit with everything you need to do a car or two. (brake cleaner, brush, gloves, EVERYTHING)

G2 Brake Caliper Paint Systems

They have variety of colors (colours?) , I don't think an exact match is required since everything will be covered in brake dust within a few miles anyway (and of course, THAT will match F&R!). The paint holds up very well, it is glossy so that the calipers are easy to clean going forward.

HaHa. I use gobsmacked and bollocks in everyday conversation but will pass on faff, it just doesn't roll off the tongue.
