Default 400 Sport owners-share your experience please

I'm looking at a potential 400 Sport purchase within the next couple of weeks. Would love to hear current, and past, owner experiences, good and bad.
Those who may have moved from a standard '16 or '17 S model, I'd be particularly grateful for your comparison of any significant real world differences.
Thanks!

Not sure if there are any active users with a 400 sport. There were only 338 sold in the US and 100 in Canada. So the odds of anyone being on the forum are pretty low.

From what I have read the only differences (over the V6S) are 20 more neddies and some cosmetics.
Probably a much better deal to buy an S and add the VAP tune (416 PS).
Especially considering your colour (exterior and interior) choices will be much more limited with the 400.

Different seats too. I had one as a loaner during service and found it quite entertaining. It was the most driving I'd done in an F-Type with an automatic transmission, and in dynamic/sport it definitely made me smile. I didn't have enough seat time to pass judgement on the seats, but they look nice and are likely lighter than the Performance seats. Then again, my anvil collection is probably lighter than the Performance seats.

While I agree with Oz, if you are wanting to keep it stock the 400 is noticeably sharper than the v6S and less transmission lag although that might have been because it would have been an 18 model when mine is a 16. I thought it was a cracker to drive on a Jag experience day (at that stage my daily had 380hp), it is pretty much the perfect amount of power for the RWD 6 if you arent wanting to go mental with the pulley and tune. I would say a big difference and worth some extra $$ if you are not up for tune or tune and pulley.

Quite a few 400 owners on the UK site - they seem to love their cars.

Thank you everyone for the great replies!
Yes, I'm trying to find experiences/testimonials to help justify the price increase of a 400 Sport over the standard 'S' AWD or 'R dynamic' AWD
It is my number one color choice, I like the interior and the high contrast stitching. I'll be in and out of it all day, so the newer seats (with heat and ventilation) which I've read are more comfortable and allow more headroom/legroom, are a nice bonus as well. It has less than 4K miles on it and 2 full years of warranty.
Problem is, its $10K more than the '17 S's I'm currently looking at. But they also have 25K to 35K miles.
Decisions...decisions...

Make them an offer. I could get my head around a $5k premium given some of the reviews and features. But 10k feels a bit steep - to me. Given how similar they are

If you are keeping it stock then maybe. If not then no.

A year newer, 20k less miles, 20hp, interior/stylistic upgrades. Are these worth 10K to you? This is what it boils down to, I think.

Thank you everyone for the continued advice and opinions. Very much appreciated. I'll make an offer today and we will see what happens.
The standard 380hp of the S or the 400hp from the 400 Sport are plenty for me. I feel no need to tune.

Default 400 sport

After reading these posts, curiosity got hold of me. I looked at carfax and looked at a few cars. Seems that a few cars either had their ECM replaced or checked at low mileage. Was this a factory recall? Something to put on your check list before purchase. Interior looks awesome.

Well, they turned down my offer. They "have adopted the no haggle pricing". It really is a fair price for someone that can afford it. Looks like I'm back to the '17 S search.

I bought a 400 Sport AWD over here in the UK at the beginning of October and.... I absolutely love it!

The thing that tipped it for me, and the 400 Sport isn't massively different in price to a well-specced S, was just the overall spec. It seems to have all the nice bits on it already. Even silly things like the billet aluminium paddles which they charge a fortune for over here.

It was between this and a '17 model year S for me, and the '18 model year 400 Sport with the LED headlights, infotainment upgrade etc. seemed to make sense. I have the panoramic roof on mine as well which really lightens the interior.

I would say on balance the AWD system makes the car a lot more usable here in the UK where it rains a lot and the roads are often covered in leaves/water. My daughters boyfriend has a standard car and says it gets very twitchy when it is wet and horrible.

A word of caution... Check the infotainment system is connecting to the Live services. Mine didn't, and having been told all it needed was a software upgrade the dealer ended up having to change the whole telematics unit at a cost of around $1000!

The yellow stitching looks sharp. Good point on the infotainment and LED headlight, those are pretty big upgrades to me personally. Did all 400's come in black? I recall seeing one in the dealership in 2017 and it was black as well.

No. I don't know that they had the full palette, but the the loaner I had was white.

They were available in Black, white and silver. Those were the only colour options for the 400 sport.

I love it, simply for the exclusivity of the build. Having never seen one on the street, I would take the time to walk around and gawk if I saw one in a car park.

Not sure if you are still looking for one but a Yulong White 400 Sport popped up for sale in my IG feed. Kind of rare since there are only 34 white coupes out of the 338 400 Sport that came to the US.
