Default 5th Annual Tail of the Dragon Drive

It’s on! Mark your calendars for May 13, 2023 and join us for another run down the Tail of the Dragon, and a few other fun roads.

If you haven’t heard of the Tail of the Dragon, it is a bucket-list road for many motorcycle and car enthusiasts in North America.

What started as an idea on a Facebook group in 2019 has become one of the must-do F-Type activities of the year.

Details are coming together and updates will be provided soon.

On the registration page, are the "tickets" per person, or per car/driver?

The event is free. Just looking to get a count of cars. Thanks.

I wish I could make it. However, I'm inundated with overlapping work initiatives, all happening around the same time. My calendar doesn't clear until nearly end of year.

I'm interested, but with it being set for Mother's Day weekend that'll make it tough to attend.

Am signing up…got permission from my wife and we’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day the weekend before. Bringing my daughter again and she’s very excited to go again this year.

Can't make the Tail drive but did just get back from driving 1,500 miles in Costa Rica.
Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how one looks at it, I was not driving the Jag.
Those roads were continuous loops, hairpins, steep ups, and even steeper downs.
About 250 miles of it would have been a great F-Type drive.
The rest would have been impassable in the Jag!!.
All rubble, dirt, boulders and mega pot holes.
But the 1.5 liter Geely GX3made the trip without damage, mostly in manual shift mode.
Needless to say, while I did see several JLR vehicles, there were no F-Types!!

No way I would drive an FType in Costa Rica. Or any Jag or even Land Rover. They are just too damn big. Some of the scariest roads and moments on the roads were the mountain “highways” to Arenal. By highway, I mean a car and a half wide road with crumbling edges and semi trucks. TOD desperately needs a repaving (scheduled for next year apparently) but it is a dream in comparison.

Default Tapoco rooms are still available

HOTEL UPDATE: Tapoco is holding a block of rooms for our group. Rooms are still available. To book at Tapoco: navigate to https://book.webrez.com/v31/#/proper...ation/0/search. Enter your dates and then enter the event code JA051223. That code will then show available rooms.

Default Plan on trying!

After years of struggling, have one last hurdle to clear with my FType. Then its smooth sailing….
