Default 5x108 to 5x114.3 Hub Adapter= Limitless Wheel Options

Considering the fact that there is nearly no support from a reputable wheel company that supports 5x108, does anyone have experience using adapters? The wheel options in the 5x114.3 are limitless from known companies such as Volk Racing, HRE, Enkei, BBS, etc.

great question...would also love to know. don't really want to spend $10k on custom wheels, would rather just get a decent set of aftermarket ready to use ones.

There are a number of people on the forum using so called wheel *spacers* from motorsport-tech. These wheel spacers are really 'wheel adapters' but the bolt pattern is 5x108 and 5x108. They made them 'Custom' for the F-Type.

So, no doubt motorsport-tech can make the same thing but with a different output bolt pattern. Since they've already made them as 'spacers' they already know the exact hub size etc for the F-Type.

The custom spacers were made 15mm thick. I don't know if you'd need metric studs, non metric studs, or if the specific wheel itself determines this or perhaps it doesn't matter(???). I believe with a 15mm spacer, the factory studs had to be trimmed slightly (2mm) so a slightly thicker adapter may preclude this.

Ask 'em...

Wheel Adapters, Wheel Spacers, Hub Centric Rings | Motorsport Tech

FYI, this was the group buy for the custom spacers:

Amazon.com: 4pc 32mm (1.25") 5x108 to 5x114.3 (5x4.5) Wheel Adapters/Spacers - Ford Jaguar Lincoln Mercury Volvo: Automotive Amazon.com: 4pc 32mm (1.25") 5x108 to 5x114.3 (5x4.5) Wheel Adapters/Spacers - Ford Jaguar Lincoln Mercury Volvo: Automotive

I have no clue if these would work or not, nor do I now the quality. Just a quick search pulled them up. 32mm is probably too thick anyway.

I was part of the group buy and bought a pair of the 15mm spacers in the link above. They appear to be of very high quality.

However, I decided not to use them after test fitting because I felt 15mm is too much. With the OEM 20" wheels and tires they push the outer tire edge out to the outer-most part of the upper fender lip. Since both front and rear fenders flair inward from top to bottom, that was too much extra tire exposed for me.

I actually prefer the OEM look, but I think 10mm max would better if you're going to do something like this.

but, if he got aftermarket wheels, the offsets would (probably) be different, so the fitment calculations would also be different? (Or the adapter thickness could be accounted for when ordering wheels).

That's a good point.

I wouldn't do this because Jaguar's are notorious for wheel bearing failures and I wouldn't want to be out of warranty.

I was in the group buy too and probably won't install mine either so they're for sale...

I would also say that (from the position of not actually knowing anything!) that having a thin aluminum adapter (15mm thick) being the only support for the wheel studs seems a bit dubious to me. If they were steel I'd be happier with the idea (or thicker than 15mm aluminum).

However, it could be that 15mm aluminum is plenty, my knowleedge is lacking here! Clearly the guys that make them are happy with the idea, and nobody's wheels have fallen off...

Spacers are illegal here.

There is a reason for that.

Bringing an old thread back instead of starting a new one. Has anyone since tried using a wheel adapter?

I have always been against adapters or hubcentric spacers but since the Jag uses a funky wheel pattern, I don't have many options. I'm hoping to run a 5x108 to 5x120 15mm wheel adapter but want to see if there is a reputable company to go with (if any).

These folks will set you up with exactly what you need for wheel adapters:spurverbreiterung - Jaguar

Send them a message with exactly what you need (including thread pitch, bolt diameter and Lug seat type (ball, conical, flat, etc.-F-type wheels take flat)

Australia seems to be very conservative when it comes to modifications on a vehicle; such as wings. At least this is what i've learned from mighty car mods.

it's just an outdated law dreamt up at a time when quality spacers didn't exist

just like xenon/hid headlights needing to also have headlight washers in a country which doesn't snow in populated areas and where led headlights dont require them

and yes Porsche here will happily sell you a set of spacers as part of their dealer accessory parts
