Talking Adopted another cat!

With everyone adopting pets in this crazy year, I have just adopted a new(-to-me) feline myself! This has been my dream car for years, and super excited to finally have her on my driveway (thanks, tehhippy!)! Like many others here, I've been patiently (read: obsessively) combing used listings for almost two years until I found the purrfect color/transmission/trim. For those of you still looking, your patience will be rewarded. Still wearing the grin since I collected her from the transport truck Wednesday. Washed, clayed, glossed and waxed today; ceramic coat to be applied in the spring. Thanks for all the super helpful tips and tricks on here -- I'll be employing several over the coming years. This has to be the most helpful forum I've ever been on. Looking forward to doing the 2021 Ghost Tour!

Mnementh! (Alexstrasza is the IRR XE behind her)

You just gotta love new owner excitement! It’s like getting your Ftype all over again and is a contagious feeling.

I didn't consider Firesand until I saw one in person, but by then I'd already ordered. On the web, the color is not that exciting, but in real life it definitely is a different beast.

Agree - do the F-Type statistics gurus on here have any insight?

Agree! Worth the lengthy wait to find it :-)

1gen or 2gen? Last numbers of VIN are 35143 and manufacture date is Jan 2016. Didn't seem from service records that clutch was ever replaced, and it doesn't seem too bad, even at 41K miles. Going to have it checked regardless, and have banked some replacement $. Also, someone recently posted four helpful tips for new owners - thanks! I've already run the fuel system cleaner through so far...

Do the grins ever really disappear?

Agree - looks great in pics, but even better in person!

Congrats. Looks great!
Enjoy driving. And get some good runs in before the weather turns (are you driving all year? I park the F Type for winter but keep driving the XF all year). Also in MA

Btw - if your car has the OBD battery drain issue, the MA inspection will trigger it. So I have to disconnect and reconnect battery each year after the state inspection

Thanks, @BritCars! Indeed - I completely forgot the MA inspection (which I did a few days ago) requires an OBD connection, and now my battery is dead. I will charge and reset in daylight tomorrow. Lesson learned the hard way, but thanks for the reminder!

Getting lots of good miles in (well, until today) and I did just get a delivery of new Nokian Hakkepeliitas today, so I plan to drive her on nice days, as long as there's not a lot of salt/ice/snow (although might sneak her to an empty lot for some fun in a little snow though). I'd normally let my fun car hibernate all winter, but I won't be able to leave her along that long. I'll drive my XE (also on Nokians) in ickier conditions. Maybe you'll see a Firesand F-type around.

I see you have a RWD F-type S, an AWD XE, and live in MA.

You have excellent taste.

Alexstrasza:

Nice choice! Related to the clutch, I believe we have estimated on a very long previous thread that the second generation clutches started getting installed in late 9/15 or 10/15. Mine has a build date of 10/15 and none of the problems described by others who had the first generation clutch. That being said, mine has nearly 39K miles at this point and I have recently been contemplating ordering all the 4th gen clutch parts (they are described in detail in other threads) so that when it does blow up (next summer?) I don't have to wait two months to get it back on the road because of the wait for parts (as some have described). At this point it seems like its only a matter of time and it might be a short one.

Thanks, rbsj! Slippage is mild but having the car checked out next week regardless. That's a good idea to invest in 4th gen parts now (and a flywheel which, I think, is 2nd gen?). I might do the same. I don't recall seeing a DIY thread on here about changing out a clutch assembly/flywheel -- is that generally discouraged/unadvisable?

On topic of the clutch, I was amazed at the lack of rollback while stopped facing uphill. This will make uphill parallel parking much easier (grateful since this is my first manual with an electronic parking brake - no trusty parking brake lever to slowly release!!). The shifter feels good - still considering the short shifter though...

The electric parking brake automatically engages to reduce rollback. It feels like cheating sometimes, but I can't say that I don't appreciate it.
