After the flood the car won't start
Hi everyone,
I'm sending a small update.
A local mechanic arrived with diagnostics, he also previously worked at JLR.
We tried to clear the errors, make a new adaptation of the unit, change the SW. Unfortunately neither helped and 2 errors still appear:
1) B100D-87 "Column Lock Authorization"
and
2) U201F-87 "External Receiver"
He didn't have experience with the second error, maybe it's unrelated? I have a different Android system in my car, so if it's not that.. But the first one speaks clearly, but even he couldn't tell what could be wrong. Whether in the main control unit, in the booster lock itself, or in what.
I have to wait for instructions from the insurance company, I am claiming damages from the owner of the building with the garage. As soon as possible we have to tow the car to a JLR service with difficulty for further examination and repairs.
If anyone has any idea where this error comes from, I'd appreciate some advice. Unfortunately, the situation is still the same - the steering wheel does not want to unlock with an error message and thus does not let the engine start.

@STICKLER Sorry to hear of your flood / water damaged F-Type.
I think the post from @DJS which points to the power distribution unit on the “A” pillar is the problem.
If that becomes damaged from water (conductive from salts and contaminates), then I fear the immobilized may not release the steering wheel.
There may be other ways to release the steering wheel, but not the immobilizer which needs the appropriate codes/keys/signals to operate correctly.
Please tell us if you make progress.

Thank you for the reply @Onca Engineering
The unit was not physically under water, but I also perceive that there could be a problem in the immobilizer due to stray electric currents.
The current situation is that the car was towed to the JLR service center on Thursday. Unfortunately, due to capacity constraints, they won't get to the inspection until sometime at the end of the month, in the meantime I'm dealing with an incident with the insurance company, which, as always, is trying to get rid of responsibility for insurance benefits...
As soon as something is known, I'll let you know.

So I have the first update.
At JLR, they finally got the car after a month. They have identified the car's main control unit as bad, likely to be the one near the passenger footwell. It's short circuited, bad relay, they said it has to be replaced because it is not possible to read errors.
I don't really understand what unit the local mechanic last read the errors from, but I'll trust them. I think they said that the steering wheel lock unit is need to be replaced too. Neither one unit has a delivery date yet, they will order them and I will wait.
In the meantime, I still have to deal with the details with the insurance company and I still don't know how they will deal with it..
Only after the replacement of both units (for a total of 35,000 CZK =~ $1,600) will we see what happens next - whether this repair will help or if there will be more. As a rough estimate, it can realistically be up to 150,000 CZK (=~ $6,600), if they take a realistic estimate of the possible effects of damage in the series. Of course, it can be more, but also less. For the insurance company, they will give an estimate of up to 300,000 CZK (=~ $13,200) with a reserve, the reality will probably be somewhere in the estimate of 35,000 - 150,000 CZK (=~ $1,600 - $6,600).
I expect another month of waiting before the units arrive. I'll let you know as soon as I know anything more.

Guys, I'm looking for a NEW T2R17307 unit that is IN STOCK and can be shipped to the Czech Republic. Does anyone know of any?
Because still no change.. Still waiting for this part which is out of stock at JLR with unknown delivery date...
I tried to buy the "last piece" from eBay, now I'm -830€ and nothing, the seller canceled the order because the unit is no longer in stock... This is absurd...
Thanks!

A quick search of that part number brings up this listing: https://jaguar.oempartsonline.com/oe...odule-t2r17307
No suggestion that it is out of stock and they ship OS.

Don't know if this will help but I see 2 used ones on EBay IF they will ship to your location? I looked and both auctions indicate international shipping and for the price it's WAY cheaper than a new one! Note the second one is from NOMA which is a huge on-line used parts seller and again I have used them several times without any problems.
Used Modules
These Jaguar dealers show it and do not say NLA BUT you might find that out after you contact them.
New BCM
Another New BCM
The second link above is Jaguar Palm Beach who I have used before and was satisfied. So maybe send a few E-mails to see if these are still valid listings.
Expensive module too!

Thank you very much for your help.
The problem with the used unit is that JLR, for the sake of profit, of course claims that the unit is locked and thus cannot be used anymore, and there is no one in the Czech Republic who would do this. So unfortunately I have to buy a new one..
However, I will try to contact the two shops and see. I will write an update here.

I can’t judge the quality and attitude regarding helping out of the consulted dealer. I would never go to a dealer, for serious problems like yours. There are part throwing companies, mostly not very knowledgeable very focussed on hour declaration. Big bills……
Find yourself that highly knowledge company which helps you to solving the problems. It can be as simple as cleaning or replacing the controle module.

Perhaps a Porsche dedicated shop? Or a sports car specialist? Are you near Germany, Poland or Austria? Do you think you can replace the BCM yourself?
Mm, unfortunately no one like that, there are not many Jaguars and only the original service dares to deal with problems with electronics.
Yes, I'm close to Poland, Austria more or less as well and it is not really a problem to get to Germany either (the question is where, it can be 1000km+), but at the moment it won't help me, the car is undriveable and I would pay a million for towing..
Yes, I do almost everything I can on the car myself, replacing the unit would be simple, but without programming the unit is useless to me..
Unfortunately it's a hopeless situation at the moment and I've been without a car for 4 months..

Jaguar always claims you can't program used modules. They really can't say anything else as a manufacturer. No manufacturer will. It would cause all kinds of liability for the company since they have no control or knowledge of the condition of used parts. So the default has to be new only! It's just a business decision.
Sometimes they are right and sometimes they are not.
I may have missed this but STICKLER do you have anyway to get a working SDD system to check your car?
I don't want to cause you more work but I was forced to get my own SDD for very similar reasons.

I'm not sure what you mean by SDD. As a self-diagnosis? If it's what I think it is, I've thought about it, but something capable enough to work with the car isn't cheap, so I've had other priorities for now.
I understand completely and I did not want to spend all the time it took me to get something working either.
SDD-Symtom Driven Diagnosis- This was the factory dealership level software package designed to lead Jaguar's mechanics to the proper solution without wasted steps or using past experience. So to use it you enter a decision tree and add details as the software starts ranking possible and the most likely cause of the problem or problems.
It's now obsolete as Jaguar has moved on to Pathfinder. I still find SDD is included with Pathfinder for use in older cars but a big change is you can't operate Pathfinder without being connected to Jaguar's servers 100% of the time. This requires a paid subscription and you are charged by the minute.
The cost to set up a working SDD is variable and the software is free because it was never released to the public. We have a number of versions and different ways to use it. My cost was just the price of an old dedicated laptop as I quickly found out SDD does not play nice with other stuff and I ended up wiping and re-installing the software multiple times before I got something that would work. It's awkward and poorly written software without a users guide so it's self taught from using SDD and most importantly from others experience and suggestions. We have hundreds of threads on this subject over many years.

Sorry to hear that but I have found this to be common these days.
I have several things I would purchase off EBay but I can't get any response from the sellers about shipping cost. What I want is in Canada so it's international for me in the US. I know there will be additional charges and I am OK with that IF I know what they are before I pay.
One guy I have sent 4 separate messages to but so far nothing back.
