Default Air circulation warmer than outside temp?

I just noticed this. Not sure if it's normal or not tho..

When I run the fan with no AC but the temp turned low, the air that comes out of the vents is still slightly warmer than outside air temp. Any other vehicle I have, the temp is the same as the air temp.

Recirc is off, so it's not getting warm air from the cabin.

I feel like I'm getting air from the engine compartment into the system somehow?

Before I took it in, I thought I'd ask if anyone else has run into this.

Thanks!

Mike

I recall that all my cars seem to put out air thats a bit warmer than the outside air as the intake air vent is normally at the bottom of the windscreen and therefore engine heat would leak up under the hood?

I'll have to take a look at my f type later today to verify... perhaps there is a seal between the hood and the intake that is not in place on yours. ?

The system with this car is a little strange. I've never found it to work the way I expect it unless I leave everything alone and solely adjust the temperature.

That's exactly the way mine works. I just set the temp. down a bit (w/o the AC) and it sends in unheated outside air.

Unless I have it set to auto the ventilation system has a mind of its own. Random hot / cold blasts.

So I just leave it on auto all the time.

Mmm.. I wonder if I've had it auto for the past year...

I agree about the random hot/cold bursts depending on time of year.

I'm convinced the CPU in this thing is made from refurbed x86 processors...

I may also be tuned to it now because the AC itself feel like it's getting weaker so I've been messing with it.

Given the processing speed, they're probably Z80 processors.

Make sure it's on auto (unless you need defrosting), and only adjust the temperature. You'll find the system works the best that way.

Like someone said, I figured it was warm vents causing it. I just put A/C on for a couple minutes to cool it down, then switch it off.
I've been meaning to ask about the hot/cold blasts too. Seems to work OK for about the first 1/2 hour, then, even when on auto, if I have the heater on, it goes hot/cold/hot/cold... And not just hot - sorta warm, I mean I look to see if I had accidentally hit the a/c button.
In the opposite case, after I have had a/c on for a while I can feel it cycling on/off, rather than just keeping a constant temp.
Is that what other people are experiencing?
Z80 - LOL...

If I DON'T have it on auto - then I get the hot / cold blasts.

If I leave it on auto it keeps the temperature very consistent, no sudden hot / cold blasts, whether summer or winter. Infact I usually keep it around 71deg and auto setting all year round - I seldom touch the temperature dial.

Thanks. All the stuff I listed ~does~ happen while (should I say whilst?) it is in auto mode...

I gave up on auto mode a few months ago, as most times in summer when I wanted cooling it turned the fan on way harder than I wanted, blasting me in the face, and wouldn't let up for ages. Then in winter when I wanted heating it was blowing almost nothing through the upper vents and everything through the footwell vents. So I now keep auto off and manually adjust the temperature and the fan speed, and the vent(s) used via the "Climate" button. That way I get what I want where I want without auto double guessing and usually getting it wrong.

Typically most cars will blow warm/hot only through the floor vents:

Wonder if there's something wrong with the air quality monitor, if you have that. It's supposed to switch to recirculate if it detects bad air quality - maybe recirculation is flipping on and off? (I think this used to be an option, don't know about current models.)
