Default Air Vent stopped raising.

Anybody know how to manually raise the air vent? Mine stopped raising when I turned on the heat or ac. Not too keen on having to spend an hour or two driving to the dealer and waiting for them to look at it if its something stupid and easy.

There's on option on the menu to have the vent permanently up.

Hi there - this is a known issue and Dealers currently have a campaign to test and fix all F-Type. There is a test they have to run by checking the clutch mechanism for the vent assembly by placing the toe hook on top of the unit. If the unit rises then its passed, otherwise replacement parts takes 30 minutes.
Hope that helps.

You mean when you turn off auto? You have to go in to the menu to tell which vents you want. You can slso change the temp sensitivity. I just discovered this yesterday.

From day one, the rising vent concept was a problem waiting to happen.

Which is interesting, because it is an extremely simple concept. Basically the same exact thing as a power window.

But on a smaller and more fragile scale.

The first time it came up I was like "oh that's cool", every single time since all I think is, one day that Will break, and I wonder how much all the stuff making it work weighs? Girls still think it's "neat" though.

Lol it's cool. I get this sixth sense idiot chill thing every time it starts coming up.. "Oh god have they seen it before"? ... And then before it even gets all the way up... "Omg, wow that's so neat!" ... Nope she hasn't seen it before.

How spoiled are we that we complain about our ac vents raising out of our dash. Good problems to have indeed.

I also find it really annoying that the folding mirror motors make too much noise. They need to be a little more quiet.

The temperatures have been in the 30 – 50 degree range here in N. California lately. I noticed the center vent in my car has not been rising in the colder temps. The heat works just fine and I assumed it was normal that the center vent was probably not needed for heating in colder temperatures in auto mode. It does work fine when the outside temperature increases.

That doesn't sound normal. It's now routinely in the 10's and 20's in the mornings in these parts, and my vent raises and lowers with full heat pouring out. I leave it in auto-mode all the time.

Hmm... My centre vent powers up and down if I play with the menu, but with the colder weather its been hiding. Basically it never gets warm enough for the aircon to kick in, so the vent doesn't pop up.

So there we have it: conclusive proof that low temperatures can affect your ability to get it up...

Interesting.

I've never messed with any of the settings since taking delivery because the car's always been comfortable in auto-mode just by setting the temp. That's probably the difference, and why mine always comes up on start-up--hot or cold.

Maybe that's a good thing. It needs exercise, and I'd hate to have mine stuck down.

Wow ok i'm an idiot! Yes that is it and I did just happen to accidentally knock the auto button before it stopped working. I can't believe I missed that in the menu I was looking on every other screen but the right one. Thank you!! Now its all fixed
